10 things you need for a healthy Natural hair

Hello naturalists,

I made a list before about what you need to know before going natural, but this is a more detailed list of things you need, and they are:

1. Patience and dedication

Natural hair is not for the faint hearted, 4 months in and I’m already thinking about forgetting about the whole thing. So if you’re not going to be patient with your hair, don’t even bother.

2. Time

You have to always make out time for your new baby; time to wash it, deep condition it, twist it, then twist it out, wrap it in a silk scarf…sigh… You need a lot of time and energy.

3. Money

Natural hair is not a cheap hobby, it needs a lot of money because most natural hair products are not cheap

4. Oil, lots of ’em: olive oil, coconut oil, Argan oil, etc

You need a lot of oil, believe me

5. Blender

Something you can use to mix all your oil, honey and shea butter together until its fine.

6. Spray bottle

Where you can pour all your mixtures and spray on your hair

7. Closure or frontal

Or just invest in good wigs. since your going natural you will have to give up on hair styles, where your hair comes out, so you’ll need frontal or closures. Wigs are life savers, just twist your hair and put them on and you’re good to go.

8. Natural hair salon

Emphasis lies on natural hair, not every salon knows how to treat natural hair, so look for ones who can. This is important because your hair stylist should always know how to keep your hair healthy and also know the hairstyles meant for your hair

9. Sulphur free

What ever you do, always use sulphur free products.

10. Silk scarf

Whenever you moisturize or deep condition your hair, you need a silk scarf instead of a hair net because it doesn’t soak up all your hair moisture.

May your hair be beautiful and healthy always.
