The Rivers state rerun elections scheduled for 6th February, 2016 has been moved today by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to March 19, 2016.
This change comes after a meeting with stakeholders by members of INEC in Abuja earlier today. It is unclear at the moment what this spells out for the PDP or APC stalwarts and candidates.
More news soon.
The original story had the date at 19th February, this has however been changed. The date has been confirmed by INEC Spokesperson for Rivers state, Tonia Nwoye and is as a result of a meeting with Stakeholders from both the APC and PDP as well as representatives of the other political parties in the state. It is expected that the new date would give all the political parties sufficient time to present their manifestos to the public.
The Rivers state rerun elections is expected to fill 22 seats out of 32 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, 12 seats in the House of Representatives as well as the 3 Senatorial seats.
